Frequently asked questions

What is RPTimeline?

Timelines of the major events in a roleplay character's story. Each page covers one character on one server — the same character on a different server gets a separate page, because every server is its own universe with its own story.

Do I need an account to look around?

No. Every timeline is public. You only log in to claim, edit, or manage a page.

Where does the character information come from?

Names, players, and wiki links come from the NoPixel Wiki on Fandom. RPTimeline manages timelines and events only — to correct a character's details, edit their wiki page, and this site picks it up from there.

Who owns a character page?

The player who plays the character. When a page is created, it is assigned to the player credited on the character's wiki page (the "Played by" credit), matched to their Twitch account. If that is you, there is nothing to claim — log in and the page is already yours. Pages nobody has been matched to yet are unclaimed.

What if my page is unclaimed — or has the wrong owner?

Log in with your Twitch account first. An unclaimed page shows a "Claim this page" button; claims are tied to your Twitch account and reviewed by the site admin. If someone else is listed as the owner of your character, the button is "Dispute ownership" instead (covered below). Either way, ownership rests on controlling the Twitch account of the player — nothing else can substitute for it.

I logged in, but the page still calls me a viewer. Why?

Roles belong to individual pages, not to your account. Signing in doesn't grant editing on its own — the page's owner or the site admin has to transfer the page to you or add you as an editor first.

Owner, editor, admin — what's the difference?

The owner runs the page: editing events, managing editors, and changing page settings. Editors can add and edit events, but can't manage the page. The site admin can step in on any page when something needs fixing.

How do I add an editor to my page?

Open Page Settings (the gear icon on your page) and add them by Twitch username. They can edit as soon as they log in with that Twitch account.

The wrong person owns my character's page.

Open the page while logged in and choose "Dispute ownership". Filing a dispute doesn't change anything on the page — the current owner keeps full access while the admin reviews it. After review, the admin can transfer the page to you, freeze the current owner's controls, or dismiss the dispute.

Can someone delete a whole timeline?

No. Deleting an event moves it to the page's trash, and the owner can restore it from Page Settings. Every change is recorded in the page's history, so a timeline can't be quietly wiped out.

My character doesn't have a page.

Pages are created by the site admin, seeded from the NoPixel Wiki. If your character has a wiki page, check the server directory first — they're probably already listed.

I don't stream on Twitch.

Your page can still be listed here. Claiming and editing currently run through Twitch accounts; support for other streaming platforms is planned.
